PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Cyber Monday

It's Cyber Monday, when the tech-savvy among us do our bargain-hunting on the web. These days, of course, you don't have to be a geek to buy something via the internet. But maybe we need to be a little bit nerdy to know that today's also Red Planet Day - when we celebrate all things Martian! So, should I combine my two interests and buy that piece of Mars meteorite I've seen discounted online? Actually, as retrograde Mars harmonises with Saturn, showing restraint will prove more rewarding.

Neptune Dreams

Yesterday I talked about the need to show restraint in the pursuit of material goods. But it's important not to ignore our desires. Or to prevent ourselves from making time-sensitive deals. The cosmos is encouraging us to be honest about what's motivating our decisions, and to focus on the meaningful rather than the 'easy'. Mercury (soon to be followed by Venus) moves opposite Mars today as they both link with dreamy Neptune. Rather than chasing whims, it's time to follow a true, honourable course.

Speak from the Heart

Following yesterday's Mercury/Mars opposition, if we want to keep our dreams alive, a change of direction might be required. This could necessitate difficult conversations, and the realisation that a source of strength is losing its power. But, just in case this suggests the kind of conversation we might expect if we were being interviewed by a hard-core journalist, as Venus moves to oppose Mars, it highlights the value of speaking from the heart. As long as kind words are used, there will be nothing to regret.

Forgotten Dreams

If dreams turn sour, what's the point of having them? Maybe we should try to keep them as small as possible so that we minimise the pain caused when they fall apart? Of course, we want to protect ourselves from the vulnerability of things going wrong. But, if we never risk failure, how will we ever experience success? As Neptune hangs still in the sky and prepares to turn direct, if long-forgotten dreams resurface, it's because they hold promise. And we can take action to make them come true.

Happy Birthday Britney

Happy Birthday Britney! Her classic song, Oops! I Did It Again, rather perfectly reflects the cyclical nature of current cosmic events. Neptune turns direct this weekend and begins repeating its journey from earlier this year. Meanwhile, its links with Mercury and Venus re-energise the issues instigated by its recent connections with Mars. We might well find ourselves raking over old coals this weekend. But we needn't get burned. This is a perfect moment to clear confusion away.

Your Weekly Horoscope

Not only is it Jay-Z's birthday this weekend, it's also when letters are traditionally posted to Santa. I have to feel sorry for Jay's kids - with a surname like 'Z' they'll be near the bottom of Santa's list! Fortunately their parents have enough resources to make up for any shortfall in their stockings. But the kids will still need to ensure they communicate their wishes clearly. As Mercury (intellect) and Jupiter (generosity) align ahead of Gemini's Full Moon this week, we'd be wise to follow suit!
