PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 18 2020 to May 24 2020

Monday May 18

Make it Snappy

The Sun is spending its last few days in Taurus before moving into Gemini on Wednesday. Its arrival in this new celestial home suggests we'll move from gut feelings to a more cerebral approach. Of course, both ways of thinking have their merits; and, just because we start to favour one attitude doesn't mean we can't trust the other. But our interactions should become more informative and our responses somewhat snappier. Although our needs won't change, we might articulate them better.

All the World's a Stage

Hi Oscar,
Your predictions are often accurate but occur later in time for me. Is there a 'time-lapse' similar to the years that light takes to arrive from distant stars? Yours, Esther

Hi Esther, It only takes hours for sunlight to travel to the furthest bodies in the solar system, so there's no waiting around on the planets' behalf. But the heavens only set the stage; it's we who create the dramas... and sometimes scenes must build before they reach a climax. Yours, Oscar

Wednesday May 20

True Value

Oscar Wilde described a cynic as 'a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing'. As Mercury (communication and commerce) prepares to converge with Venus (what we care about and value), let's not overlook the fact that 'nothing' has a value in itself; and that assets such as imagination, creativity, compassion and forgiveness are highly valuable. As Mercury gets involved with the long-lasting relationship between Venus and Neptune today, it brings a gift even cynics would welcome.

Slow and Steady

Many of us are struggling to concentrate under threat of Covid-19. It's as if we're computers, with too many windows open and programmes running in the background; tasks take more time and effort to execute when our processing power is otherwise occupied. Whilst the approaching New Moon gives us an opportunity to reset and focus on our core functions, we can't afford to 'rage quit' or shut down. It's still more important to be accurate rather than quick. Slow and steady WILL win this race.

New Moon

Gemini's New Moon highlights new information and ushers in a fresh chapter. Yet, as the Sun and Moon's embrace takes place whilst harmonising with Saturn, the foundations we lay must be built on good data. Sometimes we miss the key equation or necessary understanding to launch a new endeavour. But any ideas that are generated in this new cycle need to be taken seriously. As long as we're disciplined, and communicate ideas with respect, they they will come to fruition.

Your Weekly Horoscope

As we leave the Dark of the Moon the cosmic message rings loud and clear: 'Don't sweat the small stuff'. There are times when a series of distractions combine to create a perfect storm that blows us off our course. But, as Mercury enters Cancer, it highlights emotional intelligence; we'll be more able to take any small provocations in our stride. Although there will be challenges ahead, in the meantime we can build up momentum, and make real progress in new and positive directions.
