PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

August 14 2017 to August 20 2017

Monday August 14

Two Steps Forward

Mercury is retrograde. It heads backwards across our skies and re-enters Leo before returning to its natural progression. Often this can feel like a period of frustration: of returning to difficulties we thought left behind. But it doesn't have to be this way. Over the weekend, the Sun began its Grand Trine that culminates at the Eclipse. Mercury, not so long ago, was involved in this cosmic relationship. Rather than re-opening old wounds, we can use this time to return to our strengths, and remind ourselves of what we do best.

Fruits of Kindness

Venus moves from its link with Mars to form a powerful pattern in the sky. It lines up opposite Pluto, with the energy of this dynamic expressed through Jupiter, which is midway between them. This astrological 'T-Square' speaks of a battle for control that leads to an exciting discovery. Yet this is a conflict for which swords, or even tongues, don't need to be sharpened. It's a moment when the power of even a small act of generosity can grow exponentially. It's time to explore how sweet the fruit of kindness can grow.

Wednesday August 16

Blue Trine Eclipse

It's only Wednesday, but it's time to start talking in earnest about next Monday's eclipse. An opportunity like this comes along once in a blue moon. Actually, much like a blue moon, the eclipse has the rare quality of being the second New Moon in a single sign. And, as if that weren't enough, it arrives just as the Sun aligns with Saturn and Uranus to create a magnificent Grand Trine formation. That's why I'm calling it the Blue Trine Eclipse - and looking forward to it banishing our Monday blues!

Eclipse Hunters

It's not just that it's the second New Moon to fall in a single sign that inspires me to call this a Blue Trine Eclipse. Nor is the Grand Trine the only triangle in the equation. As the Great American Eclipse begins, one of the last landmarks it crosses will be the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Among the foothills of these slopes is where my fellow eclipse-hunters will gather. Yet no matter your actual location on Monday, you'll feel the benefit of its powerful effect.

The Power of the Eclipse

Astrologers across the globe are excited about the Total Solar Eclipse. As this is likely to be the most watched astral event in history, just imagine what could happen if we used this moment to take positive, vital action for the wellbeing of the planet? It has been suggested that if we all focus our hearts and minds simultaneously, and think positive healing thoughts, we can harness the power of the collective consciousness and create a better world. It's got to be worth a try...

Your Week Ahead

It's here! The Great American Eclipse will cut a swathe across the United States this week. It will be a totality the likes of which hasn't been seen for nigh on a hundred years. Although there have been total eclipses since then, not one will have been witnessed by so many people. To add to this extraordinary event, as it arrives, the Sun aligns in harmony with Uranus to create a Grand Trine. When the world turns its gaze towards the heavens this week, it will see the instigator of change we've been hoping for.

Sunday August 20
