PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
September 3rd to September 9th 2007

MONDAY September 3
Plenty of Nothing

A billion miles of 'nothing' in space. I still can't stop thinking about it. I reckon those people who sell star names as novelty gifts should package it up. This would entitle the new 'owners' to sing that Gershwin song from Porgy And Bess, 'I've got plenty of nothing... and nothing's plenty for me. Alternatively, those from a different generation could hum the Dire Straits' tune, Money For Nothing... Then one day, when we crack the conundrum of how to travel faster than light, tourists can go there for excursions. Whilst singing, of course, the Disney song, 'Busy Doing Nothing...'

TUESDAY September 4
An empathetic Cancerian

Jonathan,
I am a Cancerian. As part of my job, I must ask people for their identification. Last week, a woman I had never met before handed me her driving licence. I immediately felt overwhelming sadness. I then recognised her name. She was a local person who had lost her children to a fire the previous year. Why could I feel that without knowing her?
Kathleen

Dear Kathleen
They say Cancerians have exceptionally empathy. That's true. But at times, all of us experience moments of deep sensitivity. When greater numbers acknowledge this, we may manage to help each other far more.

WEDNESDAY September 5
Entering the Fourth Dimension

Hi Jonathan,
My friend, who is very spiritual, constantly refers to the great change which is going to happen later this month when the Earth moves into the fourth dimension. I have not had a coherent explanation of what that really means. Do you have any insights you can share?
Freddie

They say we will enter the fifth dimension in 2012. I suppose it makes sense to visit the fourth first. At that rate, we'll be ready for the sixth in about 2017. Whether any of us will notice that these vital changes have occurred, though... is a moot point.

THURSDAY September 6
A busy week in the heavens

So far this week, Saturn has moved into Virgo (for the first time in three decades). Mercury has moved out of Virgo - and in a few days' time, there will be a Solar Eclipse in Virgo. Meanwhile, Venus remains retrograde. It returns to Virgo in October. Leos, Virgos and Capricorns are now going through a lot, but their lives are starting to fill with opportunities to move successfully away from old, entrenched, unhealthy habits. The rest of us too, will soon find this is an appropriate time to return to values and standards that once had to be compromised.

FRIDAY September 7
In search of understanding

Earlier this year, I visited first Mexico, then Tibet, searching for a deeper understanding of an ancient prophecy involving the year 2012. It now seems clear that I need to do further research at sacred sites in the Middle East. I am currently in Jerusalem. I know this does not entirely excuse my carbon footprint, but I really do feel I am on the trail of something fascinating... and will share more with you when I can. Meanwhile, for a few days from Monday next week, your daily forecasts on this page will be by my highly-esteeemed colleague, Steve Judd.

The photo is me, preparing to enter the holy city the traditional way.
My father (who took the picture) kindly subtitled it 'two domes and a donkey!'

SATURDAY September 8
Venus ends retrograde

Venus ends its retrograde phase this week. It has, as you may recall, been moving apparently backwards since late July. It won't be until mid-October that Venus returns to the position it previously occupied. The residual difficulties and dramas caused by this reversal on the journey of our 'love and money planet' may drag on till then. Still, though, the overall trend is one of recovery. This is a week that's good for healing and for finding deeper happiness. It is also a week for looking at insecure financial situations and taking constructive steps to stabilise these.
